The government wants to create a new parliamentary joint committee with a special focus on defence oversight. The aim, in the words of Assistant Minister for Defence Peter Khalil last week when introducing legislation in support of the proposal, is to create a forum “above partisan politics and petty point scoring.” (From: The Interpreter.
