On 8 April the Peoples Liberation Army-Navy (PLA-N) hospital ship Silk Road Ark arrived in the Papua New Guinea capital, Port Moresby. The visit is part of the ship’s Mission Harmony 2025 deployment. Silk Road Ark is scheduled for a seven-day visit.
During the visit, the hospital ship will provide medical treatment for patients, conduct medical consultations for the local communities, and donate medical supplies. A medical team will also be dispatched to conduct physical examinations for recruits of the Papua New Guinea Defence Force. Sailors from the Chinese PLA-N will also visit the Basilisk Naval Base and carry out academic exchanges with the School of Medicine & Health Sciences of the University of Papua New Guinea.
