The announcement of an Australian/United Kingdom/United States of America defence pact is a dramatic, positive step for Australia and the region’s security.
The agreement to assist Australia to acquire nuclear powered attack submarines is the most significant part of the announcement. The offer of UK and USA assistance in acquiring this capability places us at an excellent starting point for what will be a challenging, national journey.
