On 4 April a Ukrainian Presidential spokesman Alexey Arestovych announced that the Russian Admiral Grigorovich class frigate Admiral Essen was damaged by Ukrainian forces. It is believed Admiral Essen was in action off Odessa and that the ship was struck by a Ukrainian produced Neptune missile.
