Report to US Congress on Taiwan

On 19 September the US Congressional Research Service produced an update on the  defence and military issues relating to Taiwan. This short report provides a useful summary of the grey zone interation between China and Taiwain as well as the US relationship with Taiwan. The brief report is produced in full below:

US policy toward Taiwan has long prioritized the maintenance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. To dissuade the People’s Republic of China (PRC) from using force to try to gain control of self-governing Taiwan (which officially calls itself the Republic of China or ROC), the United States has supported Taiwan’s military deterrence efforts.
