On 9 February it was reported that the frigate HMAS Warramunga conducted a multilateral transit through the South China Sea with US and Japanese warships during her routine regional presence deployment. During the cooperative activity, Warramunga operated with the destroyer USS John Finn, the littoral combat ship USS Gabrielle Giffords, and the Japanese destroyer JS Sazanami.
