For the first time Australia is hosting Quad partners India, Japan and the United States for Exercise Malabar. Originally a bilateral exercise between the Indian Navy (sponsor) and the US Navy in 1992, the Malabar series first saw Japan and Australia participate in 2007. This year marks the 27th iteration of the Malabar series.
