The ceremony would have made a good TV clip but the wharf area seemed to be deserted. I observed the ceremony quite by chance as I emerged from the parking station on my way to the commemoration service for the centenary of the loss of HMAS AE1.

The service hosted by recently appointed Fleet Commander RADM Stuart Mayer CSC* RAN, was attended by the Governor General and Governor of NSW and many of the descendents of the crew of AE1. The event was conceived by Dr Michael White QC, former RAN submarine CO, and well orchestrated by our colleague Desmond Woods.
