On 16 October it was announced that the Royal Australian Navy’s Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The award is “in recognition of his significant contributions for strengthening ties between the Royal Australian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy.
