On 9 November during in Emerging Leaders Forum at the Indo-Pacific Sea Power Conference, the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond announced the winners of his essay competition. Entrants had to address either of two topics:
- How can Australian naval and maritime power guarantee the security and prosperity of the Australian people? Or
- How do Navy’s relationships with international partners contribute to Australia’s security and prosperity?
