The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), together with the Australian Defence Force (ADF), recently conducted the Maritime Security and Law Dialogue as part of Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2025 (IPE25) on 12–13 November 2025 at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (SHHBIDSS), Bolkiah Garrison in Brunei.

The event aimed to enhance maritime security cooperation, information sharing, and strategic understanding between both nations, with a particular focus on emerging challenges in the Indo-Pacific.

The event was officiated by Captain Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Commander of the RBN, with Commodore Peter Leavy leading the ADF delegation and His Excellency Michael Hoy, the Australian High Commissioner, in attendance.

The program featured presentations from Australian and Bruneian speakers, covering regional maritime trends, border management, counter-narcotics operations, maritime domain awareness, AI and uncrewed technologies, and Australia’s maritime strategy. Participants engaged in discussions that broadened understanding of shared security challenges and ongoing developments in the maritime domain.

A key highlight was the Maritime Security Architecture tabletop exercise involving Bruneian agencies and uniformed personnel analysing scenario-based maritime challenges. The event concluded with a certificate presentation by the Deputy Commander RBN and Commodore Leavy.

The Royal Brunei Navy reaffirms its commitment to fostering regional cooperation, strengthening professional partnerships, and enhancing collective maritime security in the Indo-Pacific.
