The Program Executive Office (PEO) Strategic Submarines, Rear Admiral Scott Pappano, recently spoke at a USAir Force Association Mitchell Institute forum on the challenges in delivering the next class of US ballistic missile submarines, the Columbia class. He rated growing and maintaining the required workforce as the biggest challenge. This mirrors the challenges facing Australia in delivering its planned nuclear attack submarine program.
