US special forces and Coast Guard personnel seized the Russian-flagged oil tanker MV Marinera (formerly MV Bella 1) in the North Atlantic Ocean today. The operation followed a pursuit lasting more than two weeks, after the vessel evaded earlier interception efforts near Venezuela and was tracked by US naval assets as it moved northwards through international waters.
