The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is pursuing “a deployable and persistent wide area ASW search capability” built around the new Type 92 Sloop – an uncrewed surface vessel – and the Type 93, a drone submarine, according to an industry notice, UK Defence Journal reports.

Imagery associated with the programme suggests the aim is to monitor the GIUK (Greenland-Iceland-UK) gap.
