Submarines as drone motherships

The U.S. Navy is exploring the integration of undersea drones (UUVs) with nuclear attack submarines (SSNs) to revolutionize antisubmarine warfare (ASW), National Interest reports. Historically, navies have utilized autonomous or semi-autonomous systems like wire-guided torpedoes for target acquisition and engagement. Modern advancements see both the U.S. and its rivals advancing UUV technology for enhanced sub-hunting capabilities, potentially rendering traditional platforms vulnerable.
