South Korea’s path to nuclear subs

In last April’s Washington Declaration, South Korea and the United States agreed to strengthen extended deterrence by creating the NCG (Nuclear Consultative Group). Regular port calls of American nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBN) in Korea were also guaranteed on the condition that Seoul complies with the NPT (Non-proliferation Treaty).
