
The Royal Navy’s Submarine Maintenance Recovery Plan (SMRP) was formally launched on 15th January, Navy Lookout reports.
The First Sea Lord announced he would initiate this 100-day drive to tackle chronic submarine maintenance delays in a speech at NCHQ during September last year. The SMRP is intended to be a single, framework intended to bring together previously fragmented initiatives across the submarine enterprise. The plan is designed to improve the pace and predictability of maintenance delivery at a time when returning more boats to sea is a critical priority for the RN.
