In recognition of the scale and complexity of Australia’s naval enterprise, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, the Hon Richard Marles MP, has agreed to establish a new Group within Defence to focus on naval acquisition and sustainment, as well as developing a competitive shipbuilding and sovereign sustainment industry.
The Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) takes effect from 4 October.
