The Quad leaders meeting was a good opportunity for the US and Australia to discreetly sound out the possibilities of Japan joining the AUKUS partnership.
There’s been persistent speculation that Japan will join AUKUS since it was announced in September last year. Japan has made a number of positive statements about the trilateral technology-sharing partnership.
