In late November the frigate HMAS Ballarat took part in Exercise AUSINDEX 2025 in the waters off Guam. Also participating was the Indian Navy’s Shivalik-class frigate INS Sahyadri. They conducted two days of surface and anti-submarine warfare, seamanship and aviation operations.
The RAN stated that AUSINDEX:
- enhanced interoperability between the Australian and Indian navies,
- shared best practices, promoting the Australia and India relationship, anf
- exercised coordinated maritime operations and facilitating professional exchange and interactions at the working level.
For its part the Indian Navy said the exercise “aimed to significantly boost interoperability and deepening strategic partnership between the two maritime nations.
