Eighth Submarine Institute of Australia Submarine Science, Technology and Engineering Conference SubSTEC8.
The Submarine Institute of Australia (SIA) will be conducting its eighth Submarine Science, Technology and Engineering Conference on 21–23 September 2026 at Adelaide Oval, South Australia.
SubSTEC 8 will be delivered under the theme: “Pillar 1 through a Pillar 2 Lens – Advanced AUKUS Capabilities and the Submarine Deterrent.”
Bringing together representatives from defence, industry, academia and government to explore how advanced technologies and capabilities developed under AUKUS Pillar 2 support and strengthen Australia’s nuclear-powered submarine program under Pillar 1. More broadly, it centers on the collaboration needed as Australia shifts from the Collins-class fleet to a multiclass, nuclear-powered (but conventionally armed) submarine force
Registration details are here.
The conference continues the SIA’s long tradition of convening Australia’s premier forum for submarine science, technology, and engineering. It will bring together senior leaders and experts from Government, Defence, industry, academia, research, civil society and our international partners to advance Australia’s sovereign undersea capability. SubSTEC 8 will explore how the AUKUS Advanced Technology Pillar and other advanced technologies can optimise and address the challenges of maintaining a contemporary submarine capability
