Japan’s deep-sea rare-earth move

Japan is going to the depths of the ocean to reduce its reliance on China. Tokyo has launched an ambitious plan to mine the floor of the Pacific for mud rich in rare earth minerals at a depth of 6 kilometres, the ABC reports.
