The People’s Liberation Army-Navy 70,000 tonne aircraft carrier Shandong has completed a port visit to Hong Kong during 3-7 July. As part of the port call the ship Shandong, along with the guided-missile destroyer Zhanjiang and guided-missile frigate Yuncheng were open to public inspection, with more than 10,000 Hong Kong citizens visiting the task group.
Shandong has had a busy couple of months. On 1 April 2025, she took part in exercise Strait Thunder 2025A which were exercises in waters around Taiwan. Then in June, for the first time, the Shandong, in company with the aircraft carrier Liaoning, and their consorts operated past the second island chain.
