The new class of guided missile frigate for the People’s Liberation Army-Navy (PLA-N), the Type 054B, will feature a longer operational range, more functions and stronger combat capability, according to the Chinese Ministry of Defence. The lead ship was launched at Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai on 26 August. The second ship of the class is being constructed at the Huangpu Shipyard.
