A report providing an update on the US Navy’s ambitious weapons laser program has been released by the US Congressional Research Service. The US Navy installed its first prototype shipboard solid state lasers (SSL) capable of countering surface craft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on a Navy ship in 2014.
