The maritime domain’s importance to security and the economy is the theme of this year’s ANI Goldrick Seminar.

The seminar will be held at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Canberra, on Thursday 3 October 2024.  The Chief of Navy and ANI Patron, VADM Mark Hammond AO, RAN, has selected the theme for this year’s conference as “The importance of the maritime domain to Australia’s economic wellbeing and security”.

The focus will be on the economic importance of the sea followed by the “so what” for the Navy and wider ADF.  We are planning a series of panels, including a range of senior ADF officers, an industry panel, and AUKUS update panel, an international panel with regional representatives and the incoming Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral Justin Jones AO, CSC, RAN.  We have also confirmed Commodore Jay Tarriela from the Philippines Coast Guard.  Commodore Tarriela is at the forefront of the Philippines response to Chinese provocation around the Second Thomas Shoal (and elsewhere) and will be able to share some invaluable insights.  You can follow him on Twitter/X at @jaytaryela.

We will share updates with the planning as it evolves, but save the date now for what promises to be an excellent day of maritime debate and discussion.
